Vision Insurance

Eyesight is a precious gift

Many people take their eyesight for granted. Sometimes you don’t know what you have unless you lose it. The National Eye Institute projected that 5.5 million Americans will experience blindness and low vision by the year 2020. These are problems that could be cured or prevented through early detection and treatment.

Protect your vision

Many families neglect eye exams or other important preventative services. Optometrists not only correct vision; but, they also diagnose eye diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disorders, lid abnormalities and infections. Their examinations also may identify signs of systemic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension — often at early stages.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that 8 million Americans with diabetes are undiagnosed. Diabetes is often first discovered during a routine eye exam.

What is Vision Insurance?

Vision Insurance is different from Medical Insurance. Medical Insurance generally covers eye injury or disease. Vision Insurance, sometimes called an Eye Care Plan, is a wellness benefit designed to reduce your costs for routine, preventive eye care such as exams, screenings, eyeglasses and contact lenses. Some plans also offer discounts on refractive surgery, such as LASIK and PRK. But most importantly, Vision Insurance often provides motivation to schedule your annual eye exam – the most critical preventative step you can take.

Typically, Vision plans include:

Savings on exams, eyeglasses, contact lenses

A yearly exam at no cost

Wide choice in eyewear

Nearby doctors with flexible schedules
